This is a cool little ice cream stand shaped like a vanilla ice cream cone in St. Pete Beach that sports 66 flavors of ice cream. I had some sort of peanut butter fudge sundae with chocolate ice cream and crushed peanut butter cups on top. It was $6.50-ish but so delicious!! This was my dinner one night so I didn't mind paying a bit more. I love ice cream and this place was a winner!! If I ever visit St. Pete Beach again, which I hope I do, I will stop here again!

This is a cute little place (building shaped like an ice cream cone) with only outside seating. I got a waffle cone with a couple scoops of mint chocolate chip & my husband got a small soft serve sundae with strawberries & hot fudge. We were both pleased with the flavor of our food and the service was fast and friendly. We have been coming to St Pete beach for more than five years and this was the first time we went to Twistee Treat. It won't be the last!

So cute! Building is a giant ice cream, can't miss it. Tons of flavors of soft serve. My favorite was cinnamon.

Great ice cream in a cute beach shop! We walked but there was a lot of parking and some tables in front to eat at! There were a ton of soft serve flavors to choose from and a good amount of ice cream flavors. I stuck w my classic- mint chocolate chip in a cake cone w jimmies - went with 1 scoop and it was the perfect amount!

Went here with my daughter a few weeks ago. What can I say....it's all in the delivery!! Not only is the ice cream cone building unique and adorable, my daughter was just in awe that an ice cream cone could be that big. We got soft serve and it was delicious!!! My daughter is traditional, so she got the Vanilla, and I got the Chocolate. I can't wait to go back and try some of the other flavors. I grew up with Carvel in NY and all I can say is that Twistee Treat kicks Carvel's -----. It's a must see, check it out!

I love this little iconic ice cream shop on St. Pete beach. The store is built like a large vanilla ice cream cone and beckons you when you walk or drive by on your way to the beach. Their soft serve ice cream is my favorite. I have had their hot dogs also. They are large, deliciously cooked and topped with any of your favorites per request. Their prices are a bit high, but it is near the beach. They have delicious frozen treats of many kinds. I always go there first on my jaunts to St. Pete beach. It would not be normal if I did not have a lunch or sweet snack.YUM

Maybe the best ice cream shop I have ever been to. Amazing variety and very good service. Price is a little on the high side but you pay for quality. You want cheap, go to McDonalds. This place has even looks like ice cream, how cool is that. A must try in St. Pete Beach!!

So I get done at Larry's ice cream and walk up the street and see this place. Better prices and the hand dipped ice cream is great. No gelato here, but they have at least 50 soft serve flavors and only 10 hand dipped flavors. No indoor seating and no bathrooms. But your coming for the ice cream, Right? Better than Larry's and at a better price!!

My family and I are visiting from Texas, I did a Google search for places to eat near our rental home and Twisted Treat came up...we've driven by several times and seen a lot of people at their establishment and had good reviews online, so before heading to the beach we stopped by for a late lunch/early dinner. BIG mistake! My sister ordered a burger well done, the guy says "that's all I cook is well done" Great cause that's what I want, was my sister's response. He then asks if we're all ordering food (there was 3 of us) my sister says, yes, do people not order a lot of food here? He stated, no were not equip for food orders, "that's the owners fault" he added so I'll be sweating in the back and leaving this poor guy up here alone (the other employee). My son ordered a pepperoni pizza and we were advised "we actually don't sell pizza here" my son ordered a corn dog and I ordered a plain burger and an order of cheese sticks. My total was $15 and some change. We didn't wait extremely long for our food and our order was handed individually not in a bag. We decided to come back to the house to eat rather than sit outside ... SOOOOO glad we did. The burgers were completely red in the middle and the cheese sticks weren't cooked all the way so we had to finish cooking our meals!!!!! Our intention was to go back for dessert after the beach but needless to say we will not be returning for anything here.

Simply amaZing little ice cream shoppe right off the beach. If you like hot food and cold treats this is the place for you! Bring the family and sit under the umbrellas and enjoy! Just on the north side of the beach close to Wings you can walk there and find your bliss.

Love this place! They have an overwhelming amount of flavors and yes, the menu is a little confusing. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I had the hard ice cream - chocolate and peanut butter with a wafflecone (dumped in a cup because I cannot be trusted with ice cream cones in the heat!). It was delicious. My husband had the butterscotch soft serve and that was also really good. Prices are a bit high but it was worth it for a little splurge on vacation. We've been a few times - and we'll go back again!

This is our home away from home ice cream destination. If you like blizzards this place will make anything you like. They also have countless flavors for their soft serve. Their service isn't the best, but as far as the ice cream goes, this place cannot be beat!

On a mission to indulge the cravings... I haven't seen a Twistee Treat in a long while. I love their soft ice cream. This time I tried the Pistachio yogurt on a cake cone. As expected - totally deeeelish!

This place is a blast. How can you not like a place shaped like a giant ice cream cone? It is just very campy. The soft serve ice cream is pretty good, but not really much different than Dairy Queen. We stop by from time to time. It is a nice treat after being out on the beach.

Best ice cream around!!! They stay open later than most ice cream shops, and their prices are reasonable. My son loved the building being shaped as an ice cream cone. Their typhoons are great, but their dipped cones are superb! The chocolate coating was so thick that the melted ice cream didn't even leak out!

You gotta love a place shaped like an ice cream cone. The ice cream is very good. Our son who doesn't like anything insists on Twistee Treat for dessert every night. Always service with a smile and don't forget to leave a tip our some poor unicorn gets it. This was the last business we visited before flying back to NYC. Thanks for making our son happy.

It looks like all the bad reviews here are from some bitter little girls that didn't get their way! If the ice cream is too expensive for you, then go someplace else. Don't pay the price and then complain about paying too much. As far as Scoops that they mention, if you don't mind the crack-house convenience store next to it then go for it, not the place you'd want to take the kids. And yes, that store has been busted on several occasions. Twistee Treat is always busy. We live on the island and visit at least a couple times a week. The service and the ice cream are always great! As far as the price, I haven't noticed them being more than anyone else, pretty much par for the course for this area. I've never tried their hard ice cream, usually get soft serve. Try their Typhoon, you'll never want to get another Blizzard again.

It looks like ice cream, and it SELLS ice cream!! How cool is that?? And it's goood ice cream. But its pricey ice cream-- and the teeny-boppers that staff it don't deliver on what the menu promises. Cherries, wet nuts, whipped topping- all things promised via menu on our one or more of our sundaes, yet sadly missing when we ate them. The sundaes we had were quite yummy, with quality toppings- but when you pay 7 buck+ for a sundae, you want all that's promised! Docked 2 stars for that.

I'd just like to comment on the service etc. According to the Yelp page, this location closes at 11 pm, but when we arrived at 10:36, the employees were already closing up. They were obviously annoyed by our large group, and were not at all accommodating. I understand that 14 people asking a million questions about ice cream can get annoying, but paying customers are paying customers. At 10:50 the employees put up the CLOSED sign, rolled down the blinds and started spraying the ground and tables (where we were all sitting!!). If they wanted to communicate their immaturity and their desire to get the heck out of there, they definitely got the point across. On another note, there are a ton of signs in the windows featuring different flavors, toppings, cones etc; BUT this was more confusing than helpful. They don't update the signs based on what's in stock.

This is a hot spot for all on St Pete Beach. The service is wonderful, but I think it is overpriced. However, we are a destination vacation location so all prices are a bit more. Great taste and the cones were fresh. What more could you ask for. Grab your dessert here!

  • Charley B.

This is an ice cream stand, so customers do not go inside the building. I think there were two or three picnic tables. The ice cream was good, but it was about 50% more expensive than most ice cream stands outside of tourist areas. They called all the hard ice cream "homemade". The cookie dough and double fudge were very good. Lots of chunks of cookie dough. There were a few dozen flavors of soft serve, but only chocolate and vanilla were ok for nut allergies. All of the hard ice cream was ok for nut allergies unless they specifically had nuts. That was a nice surprise. We're used to hearing that hard ice cream may be contaminated with nut traces.

I'm writing this review because I noticed that this place only has 2 stars. It's just a soft serve stand guys. Yeah, the food is a little pricey, but it's not the main reason you go here. The soft serve comes in a myriad of flavors and you will not be disappointed with most of the ones you choose. Anytime we are in the area we stop by here for dessert because we always leave satisfied. The staff has always been super nice and willing to accommodate any of our demands. I don't really see why anyone could hate this place unless they were expecting it to be like Dairy Queen, in which case they should just go there and be content with their cheap and boring swirly soft serve.

Wow. Not a "wow" for the business but rather a "wow" for the three prior reviews. What on earth are they expecting from a stand alone ice cream shack in the shape of a giant soft serve cone that is run by kids just for a part-time job? Apparently, people expect every place like this to have menus imagined by Thomas Keller and the service of a 3 Michelin star restaurant. TT has soft serve ice cream. You pick a flavor from the insanely large list and they add it. It tastes as good as you'd expect, e.g., sweet and ice creamy. Everything else on the menu is basically the same. TT's service is just fine. You order through a walk-up window that is only large enough to conduct business. These people are cooped up in a giant soft serve cone all day while tourist jack-asses and their children apparently expect them to stick a broom up their ass and sweep while they bend over backward for their requests. These are part-timer kids, and, well, give 'em a break. They are there to get some free cold treats and partially fund a teenager's beach lifestyle. The ambiance...wonderfully kitschy. Why visit a strip mall to see the same thing over and over again? Why not visit a place that would have no other imaginable building use but for a soft serve ice cream business? They have concrete tables and chairs. Sit, enjoy. Bottom line...unless you pretty much are attempting to have a bad day you should completely be fine here. They have ice cream, you're next to the beach, it is priced accordingly, what on earth more could you possibly want?

I don't know how this place got such bad reviews. My family and I went to this place two days in a row and I can't think of anything to complain about. The huge ICE CREAM CONE building was really cool. I told my kids that it was attached to a cooler to keep the ice cream top from melting. The first night my wife, mother, step father and I all got ice cream for under $15. That would easily cost $20 or more at DQ. My mom and wife loved the soft serve vanilla cones dipped in chocolate. I ordered mint-chocolate chip ice cream/ My step dad ordered some fruity frozen yogurt. The selection there was rather large. Much more to eat then just soft serve like someone mentioned. There were several people in line each night but the line did not take long. The staff wasn't the friendliest but they weren't rude either. We liked the outdoor seating. We will go back to this place.

Man there are some harsh reviews for this Twistee Treat. We gotta give them some love here. Anytime we are near St. Pete, we go out of our way to find this place. We hit them up on the way out of town a couple of weekends ago when we were at the beach for Labor Day. They have such a good selection of ice cream, both hard and soft serve. I actually went with a snow cone this time and it was amazing. Everything they offer is tasty and I can't wait to go there again the next time we are near by.

Right on the main road, so we stopped in on our way from St. Pete beach. We were here visiting so so stopped in and got soft serve ice cream. It was pretty good since soft serve is pretty much the same in most places in my opinion. The menu is really big and the building is in the shape of ice cream cone which is pretty cool.

    huge list of flavors!

From the line I stood in for my overpriced Ice Cream, I cans ee that this place couldn't give a rats ass what anybody says, they are just sitting back and collecting the money. First off, the ice cream is fine, its really not bad at all, its soft serve, same as Foster Freeze, Dairy Queen, all that. What sucks is the prices. Now I understand they are in a tourist spot, and we are a somewhat captive audience. But $6.49 for there version of a Blizzard?!!!!! WTF!?? They also don't really accurately list prices on the menu, ie a small cone is only 2.49 if you get vanilla.....you want your ice cream to have a flavor, its .75 cents more. Next time Im at the beach and want Ice Cream, Ill go elsewhere.

Peanut butter supreme was awesome, service was good, and the prices are competitive with other ice cream shops on the area

If I could give negative stars I would. We will never go back. The service was so terrible and the ice cream was not great. Just do yourself a favor and go to Scoops next door.

  • Cratin S.

If I could rate this as a -1 star, I would. The service was slow and we were treated very rudely. The ice cream was not nearly as good as store bought. If I were you, I'd just go next door to Scoop's!

This place has been an institution for over 30 years! You can't miss the huge ice cream cone-shaped building with picnic tables out front! Everyone knows, if you want great ice cream, this is the place, day or night. In spite of an ever-present line of customers, service is amazingly fast and right on target. There is only one problem here: selecting your choice of the day! There are scores of food items to choose from: burgers, dogs, fries, pizza, chicken, pretzels, etc.! Now for ice cream: cones, sundaes, splits, shakes, ice cream cakes, ice cream sodas, wild combos, etc. They have about 82,679 flavors to pick. Then, should I get sugar-free ice ceeam on a waffle cone, or cup or full blast on a chocolate sugar cone with jimmies, or just a vanilla twist on a regular cone....? Every kid from two to 92 years olds will love this place each and every time. Guaranteed!

This ice cream shop gets an award for being the best looking shop on Gulf Blvd. The building itself is in the shape of an enormous ice cream cone. It's tacky! It's gaudy! It's exactly perfect! Their ice cream is OK. They specialize in custard style ice cream and throw in one of 66 flavors. If you ask me I'm fine with just 10 flavors. I don't see why a place needs 66 flavors. Why not 67?

    (3)
  • Nick S.

Twistee Treat isn't cheap, but the offerings are tasty and the ambiance of outdoor dining next to an ice cream shop shaped like a cone can't be beat. It's a tradition. They have lots of flavors now, waffle cones, soft-serve, chocolate dipped, sprinkles, traditional ice cream and shakes with all sorts of mix-ins. There's no limit to how much you can spend or how big you can go. So go BIG!!!

Love the selection of sugar free. Good prices. Good selection of other items too. Attentive servers, long line but flowed quickly.

Horrible customer service! won't go back!!! Not worth any stars. Most important this is customer service and they don't have it.

  • Shabba R.

Place has been around for a very long time; I remember going as a kid. In any case, not a whole lot to it; it's a giant ice cream cone selling ice cream. What amazes me is how many ice cream places there are in the few miles that make up St Pete Beach and they all seem to remain in business. I come here for the sake of nostalgia but it's never disappointed from a taste perspective either. They're open a little later than most beach businesses too so great for late night sweet tooth cravings.

Garbage, I asked for a cheesecake flavor cone and it taser quite similar to vanilla flavor, ¡what a disappointment!

    (1)
  • Ali C.

Great treat just blocks from the beach. Many, many options but you must get your home made ice cream in a pretzel cone. Outside seating serves hot dogs and ice cream treats only. The building looks like a giant soft serve in a cone. Every bite is worth it - enjoy!! Oh yeah it takes cash and all cards too.
